The Bureau of Labor Statistics emits an assortment of "U" figures including the "U-3" (the "official" unemployment figure used by the media) and the "U-6" (the truer figure which includes all the folks who are unemployed / underemployed / given up looking, etc.). Turns out that this "underutilized" segment of the labor force is indeed larger than the media would have us know.
